How do I use Criteria Filters to expand or limit my current search results list?
As shown below, criteria filters can be accessed under the Criteria Filter section located on the left side of the Search Results page. It gives you the ability to expand or limit the current search results list on the same page. Click on the links of the filters to expand or limit your current search results list.
There are three filter types - Business Name, Distance, and Categories. You can choose to combine different filter types to filter the search results. For instance, you can use the Partial matches filter of Business name type in combination with the 25.0km/15.5mi filter of Distance type and the All categories filter of Categories type as shown below. This configuration will limit your search results to providers with: (1) business names containing the word Learning or Center, and (2) a distance of 25.0km/15.5mi or less from the location you entered as part of your search, and (3) categorized or classified as Daycare & Nursery.
The following filters and its corresponding effects on the search results list are as follows:
- Business Name
- Only show exact matches - This filter will only include providers with business names containing all the words you entered in the Help me find: box. For instance, if you use the words Teddy Bear in your search, this filter will only include providers with business names containing both the words Teddy and Bear.
- Partial matches - This filter includes providers with business names containing some of the words you entered in the Help me find: box. For instance, if you use the words Teddy Bear in your search, this filter will include all providers with business names containing either the words Teddy or Bear.
- Distance
- Show within 10.0km/6.2mi - This filter will only include providers with a distance of 10.0km/6.2mi or less from the location you entered as part of your search.
- Show within 25.0km/15.5mi - This filter will only include providers with a distance of 25.0km/15.5mi or less from the location you entered as part of your search.
- Show within 50.0km/31.1mi - This filter will only include providers with a distance of 50.0km/31.1mi or less from the location you entered as part of your search.
- Categories
- Show all categories - This filter will include providers from all categories subject to the filter rules of the other two types.
- Different category-type filters will only appear if the filter itself results to at least one provider or directory listing. For instance, if the Babysitter filter is available, clicking it will limit your search results to providers that are classified as babysitters.
Tip: The number beside each filter indicates the number of providers, records or listings associated to the filter. This helps you gauge the size of the search results for each filter. For instance, as shown above, there are 900 directory listings found under the Daycare & Nursery category.
